If you have a serious weight problem and want to improve your health and quality of life, lap band surgery may be your answer.

This innovative surgery for weight reduction is performed by independent surgeons on the medical staff at  Port Huron Hospital. Referred to as lap band surgery, the Lap Band Adjustable Gastric Banding System is a minimally invasive approach to obesity surgery.

During the laparoscopic surgical procedure an adjustable silicone band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a small gastric pouch. This limits food consumption and creates an earlier feeling of fullness. The band is inflatable and connected to an access port placed close to the skin that allows surgeons to adjust the system to meet individual patient needs (Click here to download animations of the procedure).

You must register in advance for information sessions by contacting HealthAccess.
