Lap Band Surgeons

As of September 2006, Drs. Zubin Bhesania and Anthony W. Boutt have performed a total of more than 1,500 lap band surgeries.

Zubin Bhesania, MD

An independent surgeon on staff at Port Huron Hospital. Dr. Zubin Bhesania earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Western Ontario and completed his internship at the University of Ontario, Victoria Hospital. He completed his surgical residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. He performs general, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. A member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, he has been performing adjustable gastric lap band surgery since March, 2002, and is one of the most experienced lap band surgeons in the United States. In addition, he is a national proctor for Inamed, training other surgeons to perform Lap Band surgery.

Anthony W. Boutt, MD

An independent surgeon on staff at Port Huron Hospital. Dr. Anthony W. Boutt earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University and completed his surgical residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. He performs general, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery.. Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. He has been performing adjustable gastric lap band surgery since October, 2002.
